Weeklong Events: August 23 – September 2
Raising Nebraska is an interactive experience focusing on food and the families that grow it. From science and innovation, to community and culture, and even the global economy, Nebraska’s agricultural experience touches everyone. The home of a grain bin theater and a full size center pivot, through this incredible 25,000-foot exhibit, participants actually become part of it. The space showcases presentations and educational programming focusing on Nebraska commodities, careers in agriculture and the food industry, as well as on-going food demonstrations in the presentation kitchen.
University of Nebraska Celebrating 150 Years and Looking to the Future (N|150 Zone)
Beginning in June, the N|150 Celebration Area will showcase the History of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln along with highlights of university’s history, impact on the future, and contributions to the state. Make sure to find the life-size flat-Herbie for a photo!
N150 Traveling Exhibit
The traveling exhibition has moved across the Cornhusker State to celebrate the university’s sesquicentennial. Check it out at its stop at the State Fair we’re you’ll learn about historic campus achievements, influential alumni and contributions to agricultural, technological and science innovation as well as environmental stewardship.

State Fair Opening Event Recognizing the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on our 150th | Time TBA
This Grand Opening will kick off the 150th Nebraska State Fair as well as highlight milestone partners who are celebrating significant anniversaries. The university will be represented by Nebraska Dean and Director, Dr. Chuck Hibberd who will have the opportunity to give remarks.
A Lecture from Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue | 11am
Join us for a discussion and Q&A with the USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue.
Saturday, August 24
Building a Dynasty: The History of Nebraska Football with Mike Babcock | 1pm
Mike Babcock is in his 40th year covering Husker athletics, after seven years of community-college teaching. He has written and edited a dozen books, all on Nebraska football except one, a brief history of Husker basketball. He previously wrote for the Lincoln Journal Star and Huskers Illustrated.
Alumni and Friends Reception | 2:30pm
Enjoy complimentary snacks and the chance to visit with sportswriter Mike Babcock, Alumni Association executive director Shelley Zaborowski and fellow alumni and friends.

Monday, August 26
Nebraska Educational Television’s Backyard Farmer | Time TBA
Backyard Farmer will celebrate the University’s 150th with a special recognition of a multi-generational University of Nebraska-Lincoln family who have a current student majoring in horticulture. The program will be taped live from Raising Nebraska at 4:00 pm. This live taping will be followed by a live Q&A session that is attended annually by over 350 fair-goers. The program will be shown on NET on Wednesday August 28 and has statewide viewership.
Sunday, September 1
State Fair Parade | 1:30pm
Join the University of Nebraska Marching Band in the State Fair Parade at 1:30 and on Main Street around 3:30pm to celebrate with some of your favorite Nebraska anthems.
N|150 Pep Rally & Land Grand Legacy Award Presentation | 2:30pm
After the parade, join the spirit squad and mascots for a pep rally. The band will also do a meet and greet for high school students. The university will also recognize Legacy Award families from throughout the state.
